Each year the DCB Teaching Committee recognizes graduate students who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to the educational mission while serving as a TA. This year, in addition to the school-wide award, the teaching committee wishes to recognize Tori Tucker for her excellent performance while serving as TA for Genetics Bio 97 Honors. Working largely independently, Ms. Tucker designed creative and engaging exercises for the discussion sections, including workshops on the use of web-based genomic databases, journal clubs (using primary literature to synergize with lecture material), and student presentations. Students lauded praise on Tori’s methods including her knowledge of the topics, her ability to convey tough concepts with clarity and in a relatable manner.
