Sophia Tran, a Bio199 student in the Parsons Lab was chosen by the Honors Committee to receive the Robert Ernst Prize in the Biological Sciences for her 2022-2023 Excellence in Research project.

Sophia assisted a graduate, Tori Tucker, in the Parsons lab and helped generate an inducible model of chronic hyperglycemia in zebrafish. Her work is part of a manuscript under review at Disease Models and Mechanisms.

Sophia and the other awardees are going to be honored this year at the Bio Sci Honors Convocation, June 16.
