Congratulations to Vaishali Jayashankar for receiving the Dean’s Early Career Research Excellence Award. Dr. Jayashankar is a postdoctoral fellow in Professor Aimee Edinger’s lab. Her primary research investigates the role of macropinocytosis in tumor metabolism. 

Her recently published work, has helped establish that among other mechanisms, cancer cells can also utilize macropinocytosis to become drug-resistant. She is currently elucidating new mechanisms of action for sphingolipids in the context of cancer and obesity.
