Dr. Katherine Thompson-Peer presented with the 2022 Exceptional Mentor Award

Congratulations to Dr. Katherine Thompson-Peer for receiving the inaugural 2022 Exceptional Mentor Award on behalf of the Center for the Neurobiology of Learning and Memory.

The Exceptional Mentor Award recognizes a CNLM Fellow who demonstrates a track record of excellent intentional mentorship, or who has impacted the climate of a department or graduate program to better support the training experiences of early career scientists, particularly those from historically underrepresented groups. Your work in this area, as evidenced by exceptional nominations from students and colleagues, is truly commendable and sets an excellent example for faculty colleagues.

The Thompson-Peer Lab studies in vivo neuron regeneration in the model organism Drosophila melanogaster. The long term research goal is to understand the cellular mechanisms of dendrite regeneration after injury.
