Dr. Shi’s project focuses on overcoming the limitations of subcellular proteomics using the novel method named Optogel Proteomics, acting like high-precision GPS, tracking proteins with sub-micrometer accuracy, much smaller than a single cell. This involves employing expansion microscopy, photoreactions and multi-photon microscopy to isolate proteins from precise subcellular locations, subsequently analyzed using mass spectrometry, making it innovative and cost effective.
